Community is at the heart of everything we do, which is why we have curated a list of creative arts resources in Kjipuktuk (Halifax). This collection is constantly evolving to encompass the most up-to-date offerings and services available.

 Arts Organizations 

  • Arts Nova Scotia - Provincial funding agency that provides support to professional artists and arts organizations, arts education programs and several arts awards and prizes. 

  • Centre for Craft NS – Public institution dedicated to education, promotion and the provision of opportunity for Nova Scotia artisans and artists. Managed by the not-for-profit organization, Craft Nova Scotia. 

  • Atlantis - An association of artist-run centres from the Atlantic supports and promotes the activities of artist-run centres. 


  • Nocturne: Art at Night - Non-profit organization based in Kjipuktuk (Halifax) that gives voice and agency to the local arts community by facilitating collaborations and exhibition opportunities. 

  • Wonder’neath Art Society - Charitable, non profit with a dedicated studio facility and public programming in Halifax, Nova Scotia.


  •  The Q - Home for Queer artists to connect and for audiences to discover the talent of the global LGBTQ+ community. 

  • Khyber Centre For The Arts - Queer-led artist-run centre. The centre presents non-commercial artwork, offers a self-led platform for artists and their practices, and aims to disrupt systemic causes of exclusion, tokenism, and power imbalances in the arts.   

  • Radstorm - Collectively-run non-profit & all-ages space for art, music, events and community organizing. Home to the Anchor Archive Zine Library, Ink Storm Screen-printing Studio, and Sad Rad Music Collective. Also, home to other projects & resources such as: The People’s Fridge, The People’s Photocopier, The People’s Kiln & more.

  • Turret Arts Space - Not-for-profit started by representatives from Khyber Arts Society, Friends of the Khyber, and Neptune Theatre, along with a broad range of artists & community professionals. Their mission is to create a collaborative multidisciplinary space that nurtures creativity, encourages experimentation and supports the development of artists and new artistic expression. 

  • The Halifax Art Map Society - Connects artists and galleries in greater Halifax and surrounding areas to art lovers. 

  • The Centre for Art Tapes - Not-for-profit artist-run, charitable organization that facilitates and supports artists at all levels working with electronic media including video, audio, and new media.

  • Art Gallery of Nova Scotia - Public provincial art museum based in Halifax, NS.


  • Cut & Paste Gallery - Showcases collage and assemblage through the exhibition of works, hosting of workshops and learning events, and more. 

  • Art 1274 Hollis Gallery - Featuring the work of over 20 local artists. This lively gallery offers original, affordable paintings, jewellery, pottery, ceramic art, sea glass, folk art, rug hooking, felting and fused glass. Open Year-Round, Regular Events, Layaway, and online Shopping.

  • 14 Bells Fine Art Gallery  - The Gallery supports contemporary Canadian artists and is in the historic Hydrostone Market. 

  • The Prow Gallery - Showcases contemporary Canadian art on Halifax's beautiful waterfront 

  • Anna Leonowens Gallery - Public exhibition space within the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. 

  • Eyelevel Artist Run Centre and Bookstore - Offers printed-matter, itinerant exhibitions, residencies and artist studios in Halifax’s North End.

  • Argyle Fine Art - Professional commercial art gallery, specializing in artwork from local Atlantic Canadian artists.
